An antidote against disease, ignorance and prejudice

MANIFESTO

China our hearts beat for you

These days China is facing a terrible epidemic that has hit and shocked the whole world. An event that after the first organizational uncertainties, is faced with great dignity and strength of reaction by the Chinese people and which has seen the solidarity of the world with which China is today interconnected as never in history.

Doctors, scientists, but also the world of culture and art are at the forefront of expressing solidarity with the Chinese people.

Alongside solidarity, there was also a lot of fear spreading around the world, in part because of the suggestions that epidemics always propagate.

As stated by the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella "We participate in the pain of families and wish the sick - assisted by the courageous Chinese medical-health staff - a prompt and complete recovery".

And that's why we want to launch a solidarity campaign "China our hearts beat for you", to make this friendly people feel that Italy and Europe are at their side in this difficult moment.

We ask the Italian Government to be promoter of the Chinese people for actions in line with the feelings of our people: cooperation, friendship and solidarity. Italy is an ancient country with a big heart that in 2020 celebrates the 50th anniversary of relations with China and that has always been able to make its contribution to humanity.

With our initiative we want to underline the importance in this global world of working together to stop the epidemic, but above all to transform this alarm into a wave of global solidarity, which will unite our people more and more and build a future of interdependence and harmony, friendship and prosperity.

Our campaign is an initiative promoted by associations, foundations, universities, businesses, etc. as well as personalities and individuals from civil society, designed to raise awareness and encourage a solidarity attitude towards the crisis.

In addition to highlighting the measures necessary to defeat the virus, the campaign aims to help overcome the fears and prejudices that the "2019-nCoV" health emergency has generated. Unknown diseases can arouse distrust of cultures with which you are unfamiliar. By culture, art and science we intend to fight the biggest infection: ignorance.

One of the first initiatives of the campaign "China our hearts beat for you", is the launch on the change.org platform at the link  http://chng.it/vp524xz7NN, and the activation of a website www.chinahearts.eu, to collect messages and testimonies of this solidarity effort that must engage all of us. With the site we also intend to relaunch the many initiatives that are springing up in many places in our country.

Ours is a campaign that intends to expand throughout Europe, making art, science and culture a first antidote against disease, ignorance and prejudice.
